New York State Supreme Court officials ruled in favor of St. Bonaventure University regarding a lawsuit filed against the university by the Paul and Irene Bogoni Foundation, according to an Oct. 14 university press release. The court granted a summary judgment of $900,000 to the university, the release reported, which represents the amount of money owed to the school by the Paul and Irene Bogoni Foundation.
Friday, Oct. 16 marked the annual Communications Day at St. Bonaventure University and served as a stage for State Senator Catharine Young to speak to prospective journalism students. Since 1949, the university has organized a program for high school students to experience the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at St.
At Monday night's Student Government Association's (SGA) meeting, SGA President Sabrina Maddeax announced a private donation will be made to cover the costs of two vandalism incidents that have occurred on the late-night Bona Bus this year. Motivational speaker Elaine Penn spoke to St. Bonaventure students in the Murphy Auditorium Monday night about maintaining their mental, physical and emotional health. Penn, director of Special Projects at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, has been speaking to college audiences since 1996, according to her Web site.
The Warming House, the oldest student-run soup kitchen in the nation, is challenging the St. Bonaventure community to gain a new perspective on the issue of hunger. The event "Fasting and Feasting for Awareness," will be held Thursday. Participants pledge to fast the entire day and are invited to break their fast at a soup supper held in Doyle Dining Hall at 5:30 p.
The on-campus Internet connection has gone down on four separate occasions this year, despite some improvements to the Internet accessibility made in the last year. "There are many factors as to why a particular Website or application may not be as fast as one would like," Michael Hoffman, Executive Director for Information Technology wrote in an e-mail.
The St. Bonaventure University community strived for a more energy-efficient lifestyle yesterday during the second annual Sustainable Bona's Day. Lauren Prisco, residence director of Devereux Hall and coordinator of the day, said education and awareness were the focuses of this year's event.
The club hockey team played its first game last Friday, losing 4-2 to Binghamton at the William O. Smith Recreation Center. The Bonnies got off to a good start, taking a 1-0 lead on an early goal. However, Binghamton scored to tie the game at one. St. Bonaventure put another puck in the back of the net to push out in front, 2-1.
As autumn passes in cascades of color, freshman Brian McKenna concludes his first season with the Bonnies' golfing team. So far it has been a smooth transition. Happy with his choice and content with his place on the team, McKenna has fallen firmly into the routine, friends, golf, studies and all.
