Massachusetts destroys St. Bonaventure

Massachusetts topped the Bonnies, 83-44, extending both its home winning streak and the Bonnies' losing streak to six games.
The Minutemen (20-7, 10-3 Atlantic 10) dominated St. Bonaventure (6-20, 3-10 A-10) in almost every offensive category. They outscored the Bonnies 41-8 in bench points and scored 23 points off 20 Bonnies' turnovers. UMass shot 58 percent from the field while the Bonnies hit 32 percent of their shots.
UMass forward Stephane Lasme led all scorers with 17 points and center Rashaun Freeman added 16. Guard Ricky Harris contributed 14 points off the bench.
For the Bonnies, center Paul Williams had 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Forward A.J. Hawkins led the team with 12 points.
The Minutemen jumped to a 19-9 lead with 10:55 remaining in the first half. They ended the first half with a 36-22 advantage.
UMass opened the second half with a 13-4 run in the first 5:58. The Minutemen would go on to outscore the Bonnies, 47-22, in the period.
The Bonnies will next visit Duquesne Saturday night at 7.
