Vandals wreaked havoc in Doyle and Francis halls early Wednesday morning, Joseph Stomieroski, interim director of safety and security, wrote in an e-mail.
The vandals threw pieces of furniture out the window and smashed other furniture in several areas of Doyle Hall. They also damaged new, freshly delivered furniture in the basement, tipped over a soda pop machine and several golf carts, Stomieroski wrote.
The vandals also desecrated the University Chapel, Stomieroski wrote.
"They were drinking and smoking in the chapel, (and left) empty beer cans and cigarette butts on the floor," he wrote.
The same morning, someone broke into the Francis Café in Francis Hall.
The university has turned the investigation over to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, Stomieroski wrote.
In a Special Notice Board e-mailed Wednesday, Stomieroski asked anyone with any information to either call him at (716) 375-2009 or Safety and Security at (716) 375-2525.

Haha, that's ridiculous! I didn't think Joe's email was informative or going to fix the problem, but thanks to him for sending it. Well, I think it's good for us to see that this happened and respond to it - apparently some students didn't have a good time and were letting out frustrations at the end of the semester. It's a shame that some people think it's okay to vandalize school property like that. It doesn't matter if they wanted to let out their frustrations, it wasn't their property to desecrate. (Continued…)
