Since middle school, drunk driving has been a favorite lecture of health teachers and parents. They've warned us about the danger we can do to others and ourselves, on the road and under the influence, but some people need to see something before they believe it. Residence Life answered the call Wednesday.

Nichole Gonzalez brought the Stop Loss DUI simulator to campus to show students first-hand what it's like to drive under the influence. Even If students didn't get the chance to drive the DUI car parked outside the Reilly Center, they should still take a minute to think of the consequences of the irresponsibility of driving drunk. By this point in our education, it should be common sense not to get behind the wheel after even one drink.

On a campus as small as this one, driving isn't really necessary, especially since the school provides driving alternatives during prime party hours. The 'drunk bus' runs back and forth between the bars in Allegany and campus from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Bonaventure charges nothing at all for this service, so there's no excuse to drive drunk, even if you just spent your last buck at the bar.
