The losses bring the Bonnies' overall record on the season to 1-6-0-1 and league record to 1-5-0-1.
In Friday's contest, Binghamton scored the first three goals of the game in the first period to jump out to an early lead.
Two shorthanded goals and a power play goal by the Bonnies tied the score 3-3 halfway through the second period, but Binghamton would score three goals of their own to gain a 6-3 lead going into the second intermission.
In the third period mistakes killed the Bonnies and led to five Binghamton goals to put the game out of reach at 11-3.
The story of the game was Binghamton's power play, as the Bearcats scored eight goals with the man advantage. St. Bonaventure forwards Josh Piegay and Luke Marchiori each had a goal and an assist in the game.
Saturday's game was much of the same for the Bonnies, as they played most of the game from behind. After being tied 1-1 after the first period, Rochester jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second period, scoring four goals in eight minutes. The Bonnies got goals from Marchiori and forward Vinny Judge to cut the lead to 5-3 with two minutes to play in the second.
But Rochester came right back and scored with 48 seconds left in the period. A late goal with 18 seconds left by senior Joe Entelisano brought the Bonnies to within two goals again, but they couldn't mount any offense in the third period, losing 6-4. Senior captain Josh Thomas had a goal and two assists in the game while Marchiori, Judge and Entelisano each had a goal and an assist.
Defenseman Sean O'Neill said the team needs to learn from these losses to turn the proverbial tide.
"We discussed the games as a team and realized we need to forget them," O'Neill said. "We can't dwell on these losses, but learn from them and work as a team to turn the season around."
The Bonnies will once again be on the road this weekend when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face off against league powerhouse Rutgers. Games are scheduled for 8:30 p.m. tonight and 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
Despite the Bonnies' slow start to the season, Thomas is hoping the team's hard work will finally pay off.
"We have been playing better than we have in past years and competing in almost every game that we have played," Thomas said. "The team has been coming together well this year and everyone seems to want the same thing. We just haven't been able to finish off games."
Rutgers comes into the weekend with an overall record of 9-8-0-0 and a league record of 6-1-0-0. Thomas said the Bonnies want to have a good road trip despite Rutgers dominance in the league thus far.
"Rutgers has been playing well this season, but I believe any one in our league can beat anyone else," Thomas said. "I expect the team to show up on our road trip and play Rutgers tough in both matchups this weekend."
