The men's swimming team travels to East Lansing, Mich. to face Michigan State Friday,in its last meet until the Atlantic-10 Championships in Buffalo on Feb. 19.

The team is coming off of a 144-96 win at Niagara Jan.30.

The Bonnies' 400-yard relay team of sophomores Jake Greene and Yi Liu, junior Chris Baker and senior Maruisz Michalik claimed first place in the effort. Baker and Michalik, along with juniors David Kundzik and Jared Robinson, took first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Sophomore Peter Koenig, in the 100-yard backstroke, freshman Elias Homerin, in the 1000-yard freestyle, freshman Christian Welsh, in the 400-yard individual medley, and sophomore Ilya Nenashev, in the 100-yard breaststroke, were all victorious for the Bonnies.

Coach Sean McNamee said the win was certainly nice, but was expected.

"Our focus is more on two weeks from now than it is on the individual dual meets," McNamee said.

He noted he was somewhat hesitant to schedule a meet so close to A-10s, because this time period is usually one where a team begins to rest up for its conference championships.

McNamee said the Michigan State meet will be used to do some last-minute preparations for A-10's.

"Last year, we had the onus of winning the lion share of relays at (A-10s)," McNamee said. "The questions are always the 800-free relay and the 200-medley relay. We still have some discovery to do as to who's going to be on those relays, so we're still doing our homework, and Michigan State will serve for that purpose."

McNamee said he is always cautiously optimistic heading into the conference championship and that this year is no different.

Senior swimmer Maruisz Michalik praised his team's boosted morale.

"I feel we are very strong," he said. "We have a couple good freshmen and a couple of guys who are stepping it up going into A-10's."

McNamee praised his team's work ethic heading into he homestretch of the season..

"Our season basically comes down to four days," McNamee said. "They've spent the better part of half a year preparing for what's going to happen in three and a half days. You can't get a fake withdrawal from what you put in the bank.

"This is one of the hardest- training teams I've ever coached. I'll go on record saying this is one of the hardest training teams I've had."
